Chimney in Essex CT had spalled brick and efflorescence. It was patched in past, but once bricks starts to spall, it becomes a waste of time and money trying to chase the popped brick around the chimney, as more bricks pop off slivers and corners every freeze-thaw cycle. Generally we recommend waterproofing the chimney to possibly extend the life of it , or rebuild it with a sturdy severe weather brick. We rarely recommend chipping out brick in the middle of the chimney due to the time it takes, and the talent required in relation doesn’t provide a great return on investment.

Before – Spalled Bricks
